Discover Erice
A poetic city in the clouds, where medieval history meets Mediterranean beauty.
Practical Information
Transportation
Shuttle service: The school provides shuttle transfers for all registered participants on arrival and departure days from/to Palermo Airport (PMO) and Trapani Airport (TPS). Please indicate your flight details in the registration form.
Cable car: Access to Erice village from Trapani is by cable car (funivia) — a scenic 10-minute ride with breathtaking views of the coast. Cable car tickets from Trapani city centre are provided by EMFCSC.
Local buses also connect Trapani with nearby towns.
Weather & Climate
Erice sits at ~750 m altitude on top of Monte Erice. Due to the altitude, expect cooler evenings even in peak summer — bring a good pullover or light jacket. Fog and wind are occasional.
Daytime temperatures are warm (25–30°C) but more pleasant than the coast below. Bring sunscreen, good walking shoes for cobblestone streets, and a hat for excursions.
No formal dress required at any event, including the banquet.
Accommodation
Participants are accommodated in the EMFCSC premises or local hotels, organized by the Foundation.
Breakfast is served at the San Rocco coffee area. All meals are included at EMFCSC-associated restaurants — simply show your badge and sign the list.
Shopping & Culture
Erice is famous for its Genovesi pastries — buttery shortcrust filled with ricotta or custard. Local shops offer wines, ceramics, coral jewellery, and Sicilian souvenirs. Participants with the EMFCSC badge receive a 10% discount in participating shops.
The EMFCSC facilities have two pianos — music sessions are often organized in the evenings.
